Meet Our Pastor - Kevin Vollema
Kevin grew up in the Great Mitten (the lower peninsula of Michigan), the son of a pastor. His formative years in the Church were a mixture of joys and sorrows. He came to know both the sting of the wretched sinfulness of people (including his own) and the redeeming grace of a loving Christ. Through dark valleys and mountain tops, the Lord worked a deep love for the
Church into Kevin’s heart. The Church is a hospital for sinners, and it is the beloved Bride of Christ—which Christ protects and provides for by his means of grace and good governance.
Kevin moved to the South in 2012 after meeting Mississippi girl, Mary Lowry, on staff with Summit Ministries in Colorado the previous year. She caught his attention with her smile and
kept it with the sweet tea. They married in 2014 and settled in Jackson, MS, where they lived over the next seven years as members of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS. During those years, she would complete a Master of Occupational Therapy degree in 2017 and work for Batson Children’s Hospital, and he would discern a call to pastoral ministry and complete a Master of Divinity with Reformed Theological Seminary in 2021.
Following seminary, Kevin was called as assistant pastor of Northpointe Presbyterian Church in Meridian, MS, from July 2021 until July 2026. In his kind providence, Christ called the Vollemas to Ruston in August 2026 for Kevin to become pastor of Covenant Reformed. They are excited for the call to Ruston and to the saints of Covenant Reformed. They are eager to see Christ’s saving and sanctifying work clearly manifested in the building up of his kingdom across Ruston and Lincoln parish.
The Lord has blessed Kevin and Mary Lowry with three covenant children: Jack, Lowry, George, (and a fourth due fall ‘26). The Vollema family enjoys college athletics and are ready to cheer on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (unless they are playing Mississippi State or—if it ever be so—Michigan State). They enjoy reading good stories, making up stories, and being outdoors together.
Pastor Kevin would be delighted to meet you for a cup of coffee to talk about life, the church, and Jesus.
